Hot bats not enough, Bucks succumbs to Luzerne

Nanticoke, Pa. - The Bucks Centurions lost a battle of the bats on Saturday, falling short in a 16-9 ballgame against Luzerne.

Luzerne jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. The Luzerne attack began with a single, then a stolen base which eventually lead to the game's first score.

Bucks scored two runs of its own in the first. The Centurions scored on a two-run home run by Michael Naylor. Two Bucks base runners came all the way around to score in each of the second, fourth and sixth innings. In the second, Bucks scored on an RBI single by Naylor, bringing home Ryan Mager.

The lead stayed with Luzerne after the third, when it scored six runs on two doubles and a groundout. Luzerne tacked on another two runs in the fourth. Luzerne added four more runs in the top of the fifth. A sacrifice fly scored a player for the inning's first run. That was followed up by a single, bringing home two more runs.

Two Bucks runs crossed the plate in the bottom half of the sixth, making the score 14-8. A two-run single by Daulton Brady sparked the Centurions' rally. Alexander Bires flew out to end the BCCC Centurions threat.

One run in the bottom of the seventh helped Bucks Centurions close its deficit to 16-9.

The loss drops Bucks to a record of 0-8 in the EPAC, 0-15 in Region XIX and 0-17 overall. The Centurions return to action on Tuesday, April 21st when they host conference leading, Montgomery County Community College at 3:30pm.
