YARDLEY, Pa. - Bucks County Community College's women's basketball team donated several dozen canned goods to support Shady Brook Farms' food drive for Bucks County residents in need for the Thanksgiving holiday.
In Bucks County, more than 57,000 people are food insecure, with 32 percent of them children, according to the Hunger Nutrition Coalition of Bucks County.
Head Women's Basketball Coach Andre Bright said the idea to participate began as a team bonding event but quickly developed into much more.
"Once I found out that Shady Brook Farms was conducting a canned food drive," he continued, "I thought this would be a great way to get involved with having an impact for deserving families in the area. It also helps to educate the players on important issues affecting the community." .
The Lady Centurions open up their season when they travel to Montgomery County Community College on Tuesday, November 6th for a 5:00 pm tip-off.
