MEDIA, Pa. – Men's Soccer had to come back to defeat Delaware County Community College Thursday afternoon by a score of 3-1.
Delaware County got on the scoreboard first in the 13th minute but the Centurions responded quickly when sophomore midfielder, Prince Boafo (Ghana) hit a 23 volley in the left corner in the 19th minute. The momentum continued as freshman forward, Zachary Shefsky (Holland, PA/Council Rock South) cut inside struck next when his shot brushed off a defender and ended up in the back of the net in the 33rd minute to give the Centurions a 2-0 halftime lead. Both team battle for much of the second half when sophomore forward, Salvatore Ficarotta (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) put the game away in the 74th minute with a penalty kick.
"We had a rough start but rebounded well." said Head Coach, Justin Burroughs, "We showed some heart in a scrappy game".
The win improves Bucks record to 13-2 overall and 11-0 in EPAC.
Delaware County falls to 6-6-1 overall and 6-5-1 in EPAC.
Next up the Centurions host Brookdale Community College on Saturday, October 12th at 12:00PM in a Region XIX match up.
